resonance is the secret

a new way of thinking about color

Picture

resonance

happens when a color vibrates at a complementing frequency of another.
They connect.

think resonance

Color Resonance is the secret ingredient that makes colors sing together (resonance)
or fight with each other (dissonance).

dissonance

happens when colors do not share the elements that cause them to resonate with each other.
They clash.

technical, logical, systematic thinking

a color model for the 21st century

The Resonance Color System is a device-independent color model that maps out all of 3-D color space into logical, systematically organized color spaces that support and clearly define our intuitive sense of color resonance.
Given the millions (literally) of color nuances available to us today, this is no small thing.

the re-designed color wheel

In this model every color is a color.
There are no neutrals. No non-colors.

The Resonant Color Wheels are composed of  15 exquisitely distinct color families:
gray, white, yellow, tan-olive, orange, beige-brown, red, magenta, purple, indigo blue, blue, blue-green, green & yellow-green.

temperature

3 temperatures:
Warm (W), balanced (B) & cool (C).
Temperature  refers to the perceived
warmth-coolness of each hue.

3 x 3 = 9 color zones

Colors sharing the same temperature and resolution group together into a resonant color zone, each containing all 15 color hues and form their own color wheel.

resolution

3 resolutions:
Muted (M), intermediate (I) & clear/pure (P).

Resolution is a combination of saturation (chroma) and value (the lightness-brightness-darkness scale). Colors sharing the same temperature and resolution flock together into a resonant color zone, each containing all 15 color hues and form their own color wheel.

the puzzle comes together

Millions of color nuances make up 9 resonant Color Zones - individual color wheels each including every one of the 15 hues in versions that naturally resonate with each other - taking all the guessing out of choosing colors for glorious color palettes.
